Overwhelmed.
Anxious. Stuck. Drained.
Helpless. Felt Alone.
Calmer. Regulated. Warm.
Connected. Hopeful. Empowered.
Manage life challenges. Not Alone.
What is Play Therapy?
Play Therapy is an evidence-based therapeutic approach specifically for children to process their emotional struggles that is hard to put into words.
Play Therapy supports:

How Does It Work?
-
Improve ability to express emotions (less “I don’t know,” more showing or sharing feelings)

-
Better emotional regulation (fewer or less intense meltdowns, quicker recovery)

-
Increase confidence and independence

-
Healthier social interactions and improve relationships with peers and family

-
Reduce anxiety, anger and aggression, withdrawal, or behavioural challenges

-
Greater ability to cope with frustration, change, and daily stressors

-
More flexibility in situations like winning/losing or transitions

-
A stronger sense of self and emotional resilience

Does My Child Need Therapy?
In today's world, children are exposed to multiple sources of stress, ranging from social and school expectations to immigration and life transition, parental conflicts and separation, and sibiling and peer influences.
As parents, they find it hard to understand their thoughts and feelings when the child isn't able to express verbally, or in the way that makes sense to us.
But Play Therapy fills the gap.
In Play Therapy, therapist lets them communicate, because play is the primary language for all human beings by nature.
Through listening to their stories and tracking the sequences in play, we understand their world.
When children play out their hidden fear, confusion, anxiety, or tension in real world, transformation emerges instantly.

Play is a spontaneous, self-driven, and intrinsically motivated way of communicating their needs and experiences.

Where Is My Involvement As A Parent?
Parent Sessions will regularly hold to track the progress of your children.

Beneficial to understand:

-
Your child's views of the world
-
What your child is working through right now
-
What could be your child's underlying emotional needs and experiences
-
What are you child's main emotional needs
-
tailored strategies at home and at school.

How Long Does It Take For The Whole Journey? How Many Sessions?
Good question! It really depends on your child's needs, and the goals.

According to Center for Play Therapy in US, it particularly mentioned, "although CCPT (i.e. child-centered play therapy) is typically delivered in 16-20 weekly, 45-minute individual play sessions, the CCPT model has been successfully implemented in the school setting following a 16-session format delivered twice weekly for 30 minutes over 8 weeks."
Do Parents Expect to Wait 16 Weeks to See Progress?
Not really.
Our job is to nurture your child's positive self, and your confidence as a parent and caregiver.
It's about human trust and connection, and it could take time to build.
If you are not sure if it is something suitable for your child and even yourself, you're welcome to reach out to a professional therapist to talk about it.
